This is the start of a new very short series.
Your feedback about the subject is as welcome as feedback about the pictures

The Internet is not really a safe place for our little people to play. They need to be protected from predators whose intent most of us cannot begin to imagine. Little boys, little girls, young men and young women all need our watchful eye and sheltering screens.

Hi Silke.. yes an important message here behind this photo... well seen and taken, maybe I would have cropped a little from the bottom, just slightly, and removed or cropped the little mark on the left side there as my eye is drawn to it.

Thanks for sharing and look forward to the next photo.

Cheers
Dawn

Olá Silke boa noite
This is a very meaningful post and note and I thank You for that. The photo is a very strong almost B&W (I would like to see that way) but about taking care,no doubt we have to.However our wonderful world is full of atrocities to everybody, and for that the question is some more global. For sure TL is not a blog about, but in fact we have to care our beloved ones, everybody. My TE acount can show you beter what I'm talking about.
Thanks
My best regards and wishes.
José Diogo

hi silke, excellent image for these thoughts, i agree computers must be gaurded internally and also the monitered usage, we do that always with our kids,
again an excellent almost freaky shot here,
tfs,
scott

Hi Silke - even my own Wee Hannah, not yet 5, knows how to use a mac laptop and has seen sites such as the Disney website on the internet...her time using it is limited and monitored, but surely only a matter of time before she gets more curious about what else is out there to explore. It is of course a worry and something Mrs A and myself will need to be very careful about...

Wee Jessica is a different worry - she just uses the laptop to hit Hannah with ;-)

This is a strong image and I think the crop is fine as it is - the arm/hand takes up a quarter of the image and the empty space highlights the fragility and innocence of the child. This would make an excellent campaign poster for some child protection agency. Superb work, Silke.

Hi Silke - this is different.
Yes, there are dangers in many places for children and especially on the Internet.
I get your point here - maybe some tighter cropping would make more of an impact - as Dawn and Hans mention - but I like your idea
Looking forward to seeing what is next
Janice

Nice and simple.... I think the image would be a lot stronger if the background behind the child's hand was monocolour - ie all black or white or blue. The different shades behind detract a little from what the picture's all about. Well, that's how I see it anyway.
Indeed - the internet's a dangerous place for youngsters!
Cheers
David

Hi Silke

I agree with the sentiments. I like the pictoral analogy, of the inquisitive hand of the innocent child, reaching out for the unknown, & the internet predators. A pox on Gary Glitter & his ilk! Tfs!

Hi Silke,
I fully agree! TL isn't the place to post childeren posing as adults! Of course a fine picture of a playing son or daughter, your niece making fun....all harmless. But apparently there are TL members who do not whant to to see that...

This is a image showing the vulnerability of a child and how to protect! Keep the childeren from (internet)abuse! A perfect sign Silke!

Although agree with Dawn that a tigher crop might even improve this image.

hello Silke,
a strong image that effectively symbolises the vulnerability of children. After recently reading a report in the Spectator of the devastating impact of just one paedophile I am still numb with horror and outrage. One of the UK's has-been glam rock stars returns to the UK after serving a jail sentence in a country that has little protection for its children against such predatory "tourists" -and he arrived protesting his innocence. I could spit!

I will follow the series with interest Silke, the topic is hot in the press here of late. Nice effect achieved with the vertical lines,
David

Very neat modern shot Silke. I like the lines of the glass. Just from the photo, one can tell that children are so curious; wanting to touch and see things. Nice shot. I wouldn't change a thing on it.

Creative, imaginative and very well done! I love the little bracelet wrinkles on the wrist, nice chubby and healthy arms. I look forward to more of this series. Thanks! I've been away so I'm way behind here.

Hi Silke,
A very good message presented in a strong graphical composition. Internet... one of my greatest worries, thinking of the damages it might be causing to my kids - surely a great care is needed.

I believe an advertising people would love this image, Silke.

Regards,
Ramdan.

This is so cool Silke! One of the most intense pics I've seen in a while! It just grabs me and it's important to protect our little ones by keeping them safe, however I think some folks go to far and get crazy with it. Just my feeling. There is nothing more beautiful than the face of a child, they should be seen AND heard, of course, within reason and with great care!
