[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just a doll: If I take a picture of this doll and post it, no harm is done. But if I post a picture of a child without the permission of her parent, then I have overstepped the bounds of a responsible photographer. A child is not a doll.

I can pose this doll any way I want to and nobody will be concerned. Right?

Wrong!
If I were to pose this baby doll in such a way that she had a décolletage, everyone would be VERY upset.
We are responsible for the way we represent our children on TL.

A child is not a doll.

Tech: Captured in raw; then using Photoshop CS2: adjusted levels, white balance, colour saturation and contrast in raw, converted to jpg, slightly burned out a distracting light portion in one corner, resized, sharpened slightly, framed and signed

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a healthy, happy, safe week.

Very nice quality shot Silke and yes with shots of people, children, a certain responsibility lies. I love the innocence of this pic, the pink is perfect here. Really nice noiseless shot. Another great posting for this series!

Hi dear friend,
"A child is not a doll" - so well said and felt thro your posting.
Many times I saw cute little childs and wanted to take pictures of them.
I thought twice and I realised that it's not my child and I don't have this right.
A child it's something more than special and it must be treated like this when taking a shot.
It's not about us all the time, we must not forget this.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
Have a lovely day.
Ioana

I love the tender potrait style composition here Silke.
There is an almost human feeling to this doll.
Superb lighting and soft colors.
Well done.

Hi Silke,
I like this series you are doing. I agree I think there is a level of responsibility that we all need to respect. This is a great capture of a doll. The image is sharp and the light is wonderful. Great shot, Great note, Great message.

Kevin

Hi Silke

Wonderful graphism & sharpness with effective tight framing. Love the lines & curves. Congratulations on the UK gold medal haul at Beijing, btw.

An excellent picture and note. I like this pov. Permission is always so important! I would not post a childs picture without it. TFS and have a happy day!

Good use of lighting here Silke, I like the narrow DOF with the point of focus on what we can see of the eyes.
Interesting composition, good to see a more unusual angle here.
Good points in your notes about our children...

With an ongoing operation on child pornography involving quite afew Australians as well as some 400 from overseas Silke, this series is a reminder if what can be. Lovely colours in the image and well presented,
David

But this doll sure has the cheeks of my granddaughter Silke - and lovely clothes - to me it seems obvious what you are saying in your note - but I think there are some people that don't get it, hope they will start to think about how and what they are doing.
