This is another one for the coulrophobics (people who have a fear of clowns) -- Thanks to Mark Parsley a.k.a. mortcdz for providing the word-of-the-day :)
This is the alternate view of those dreadful faces as they turned toward me -- really gives me the creeps! Especially the second last one, who is a little out of sync with the rest - I don't trust him AT ALL!

Taken at Canadian National Exhibition at ISO 1600, hand-held at 1/25 second. I have once again left the noise/grain relatively intact for the seedy effect that suits this type of capture.

Tech: Captured in raw and adjusted levels, contrast & saturation in raw with PhotoShop CS2, converted to jpg, resized, sharpened, framed and signed

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a healthy, happy, and safe weekend.

I know some folks are terrified of clowns! Not me of course! I love the colors here Silke! Very Vibrant and nice and sharp! Excellent composition here! Love the diagonal!

Hi Silke

Nah, they don't scare me! Wonderful repetition, with the clown at far right breaking the pattern. Tfs!

like the vibrant colors, repetition and composition with perspective. Good PP work also.Diagonal composition makes it visually pleasing. Great post and thanks for sharing with us.

Hi Silke

I adored the face of the clowns' fright
until it seems that you saw " Jason "
This picture this perfect one for a Friday of Nights of Terror.
He reminds me the famous films of Urban legends.
Beautiful shot and big visual!
Congratulations

Another really great picture!! Nice pov and I'm impressed by your framing of all of these images in this series. Vibrant colors! TFS and have a good day!

Hi Silke,
I love the expressions of the faces on these clowns. I've always been a little creeped out by clowns, not sure why. Anyway the shot is a good one. Bold colors and very nice nice details. I like the repetition of the clowns and the POV. Nice work.
Regards,
Kevin

Hello Silke,

This looks like a choir of clowns!
It takes me back to my childhood when I used to love to play on stalls similar to this, and more recently, I had a number game on my class computer which was very similar. The children loved it!

I am amazed at the quality of this shot for hand held and at such a slow speed. There is no shake and no graininess! You are certainly a master (mistress) of photography! My compliments abound!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

hi silke, again a neat capture, i love the repetition in this with nice vivid colors, i agree these guys are freaky looking! lol, happy friday!
tfs,
scott

"Welcome to the Horror Show"

-Sounds like a metal song, lol. (oh thats not funny)

Anyway, very well done Silke. Yes, I am a Coulrophobic (new word, yay!) and always have been. Clowns are the most devilish thing ever devised, who thought they would be good for children??? Maybe its just my twisted head. XP I used to have the worst nightmares about clowns.

I would like to see this in black and white though, I may do a workshop though later if thats cool with you.

Excellent work Silke. I will have nightmares for many moons to come.

Now these are sinister looking clowns - the eyes are definately the thing of nightmares. Having said that the tazmanian devil in the background also looks gruesome. Back to the picture though - bright colours and a good POV, but possibly would have liked to have seen more made of the mirror used at the back.
Thanks for sharing (and for any nightmares I have tonight!)
Mark

Wonderful landscape.
Good prespective.
Very nice colours.

Oh man, the stuff nightmares are made of, for sure.
Very nice work here, I really like the way you've laid it out and composed it.
The light, color and all tech details are right on, but the faces, oh the faces, they own this one. ;0)
Nice one,
TFS (I think)

Bonjour Silke,
I'm from those who don't like clowns, and for a long time, I'm not even influenced by films or lectures, no, it's like this.
Their repetition gives great power to your shot. And the lively colors are really beautiful and the light is perfect.
I don't know if you've noticed that the next to last clown, doesn't have the same position as the first, they are watching us. The nightmare again ........ :O)
Regards, Corinne

hi Silke

No horror but it makes a good repetition of face and color in this diagonal composition. Not so easy to score the ball into the mouth too. A nice feature of fun fair. tfs

I won't try pronouncing that word, not at 330am anyway :). The grain works well Silke, a good POV and the colours bold even in the limited light.

Couldn't pass this one up Silke, it's a hoot - you sure have a steady hand - a little noise fits the subject matter just as you indicate. Fun stuff!!!!!

They are really creepy looking kind of like chucky dolls. They do however make for an interesting picture. Great colors TFS

Hi Silke,
In the Netherlands we do have "CliniClowns", who do their work in hospitals. Some children are indeed afraid for them.
Your photo has a superb composition and great colors. Very funny to see those clowns in a row.
greetings,
Joop!

hehe, horror show, great idea, reminded me instantly of Stephen King's "It" with tim curry as the "clown".
the colorful repetition is great and even the grainyness fits. did you play them too? *g* well seen & captured, thor.

Hi Silke,
Clowns have never creeped me out until now!! lol, what a great photo, you got an excellent pov on these guys to really make them look at me!!
love the color too!
TFS
