Edmonton Folk Fest II
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Edmonton Folk Festival is a four day event drawing large crowds. The friendly atmosphere is quite impressive already early in the day, and it becomes overwhelming as the day progresses, under the influence of the music and the enclosed beer tent. Smuggling alcohol onto festival grounds can be considered a local sport, and the sweet smell of cannabis is prevalent.
The participants enjoy the music and the atmosphere, as nicely reflected by this image. The people seated on the hill in the background watch the main stage, which is immediately to the right of these dancers. |

nice color roland, wondwerful festival,
good shot...
Hey Roland, I picked this out of the thumbnails before I even saw the title. The uninhibited dancers are just one of the many sights to behold at the festival. Of course I go for the music first and foremost, but like you said, the whole scene - the atmosphere is what makes it so great. Nicely captured in this shot!

I think you've really captured that sense of freedom and abandon that is so essential to festivals like this. I like the DOF and the sweep of people on the sunlit hill in the distance.
