Yellow Trashtube
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Toward the end of the day on my first full day in Montreal, I happened on this building renovation. The sky was overcast and the building and surroundings were grays and browns and no greenery was growing yet, but there was this bright yellow tube for getting construction debris to the dumpster.
I rotated the image so the tube was reasonably vertical, then masked off the tube with quick Mask, adjusted the levels to deepen the yellow, then selected a yellow-orange color. I created a soft brush, larger than the width of the tube, set the opacity of the brush at about 20%, and took a quick pass over the tube to add some color without erasing detail. Then I reversed the mask and desaturated the rest of the image. Then sharpened and resized it before uploading. |

Hi Michael,
I like this one a lot. I love the effect of bright color on a desaturated background. Nice eye, good work.
