In my experience small kids are generally easier to photograph than adults, because they are less self-aware in front of the camera and offer more natural poses. Sure, one needs a bit of patience and a lot of time, but other than that, it's easy.
Sabine is a great model, not only because she is a very cute kid but also because her face is unusually expressive. A focused look here. The tattoo on the cheek is, of course, not permanent.

Thank all those who commented on the original version. Following the advice, I applied a very necessary noise reduction. I still do not understand why the image was noisy in the first place, because it was shot at 200 ISO and the crop served only to bring it to a square format (there is no vertical crop), and I would appreciate tremendously if somebody could clarify this recurring issue for me. I corrected the white balance, because the initial image had an unpleasant yellowish cast, an I removed the reflection in a piece of metal furniture behind Sabine's right ear. It hadn't bothered me, but since it bothered you, I though it'd better go. I did not lightened it up because I really like it as it is, but this might be also a matter of monitor luminosity.

Nice natural look shot of this girl. I think you could get the eyes to 'talk' more if you ran this through photoshop - and boosted the whites in her eyes to make them stand out. Otherwise - a nice pose captured!

I'm shocked that this hasn't had more attention, it's gorgeous!! This little girl has such expressive eyes, and the lighting and detail are very good. I liked the first post but this is even better. TFS
