Just a simple sunset -- taken on my way home from visiting my newborn granddaughter this past week.

I had just come out from under a snow flurry and had turned onto a long country road that would lead me toward the even longer highway back to Toronto when the colours of the sunset distracted me from the drive. I watched for a cluster of farm buildings that would help set off the colours and add a little drama.
This capture was the result.

Hi Silke,
I see we share the same happiness to have newborns in our life, a granddaughter for you, a grandson for me! :)
And we choose almost the same light in our landscape!
Superb colors and use of backlit.
Bravo! Annie

AWESOME!! One of your best EVER! I so love shots like this! The orange and blue are complimentary colors! Is that snow falling?? Rain? Really wonderful low light shot, amazing details!
B-)

Hi Silke

Good graphism & silhouettes of the twin pines, with wonderful sunset colours, & good sharpness. 33c here in Brisbane, Australia, yesterday, although it did snow in Banff in October, & Durango CO, in November. I like the top layer of cloud tinged with orange. Tfs!

hi silke.
a great pic to mark your return.
the colours are great especially near the trees.

cold but inviting.

don't leave it so long 'til you return.
hugs,
Brian

Hello My Friend,

How good to see you posting again!
And ... a new granddaughter! Such excitement!

This is a lovely, tranquil scene and probably so restful after driving through the snow flurry.
I like how the trees are silhouetted against the setting sun and how the low clouds are just tipped with gold. Well composed!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

This is a very nice shot. Indeed, it seems the sun called you... ;-)

Dramatic lighting and composition. I can almost feel how the chill is seeping into the photo. what are those two white streaks in the top left - jets?? I feel the lower left 2/3 will be a stronger composition, but its a good one as it is. TFS

Perfect capture : nice colours and light and good contrast. Well done
Greetings
Jean

Hi Silke,

This is beautiful. It really looks cold! You did a great job capturing the sun at the right moment. Interesting cloud formations. Still a lot of "warmth" in the sky. Nice silhouette of the trees and structure. LIsa

Congratulations on the grandchild.

Hi Silke, I like how you have the small space for the foreground & the larger space for that dramatic sky.The setting sun disappears so quickly below the horizon it is obvious that you timed your shutter release exactly at the right moment, capturing it between the two trees.I like the mood you captured with this image.A strong composition

Hi Silke,

What a wonderful sunset you've captured. The composition is stunning having the sun set between the pines and the backlit effect it creates with the trees. Great capture! I'm trying to get reinspired after a lengthy absence from the site, and your wonderful photo is certainly helping me get motivated.

Cheers,

Todd

A fantastic moment, Silke,
I love the colours and the silent and peaceful mood here, thanks and greetings

Hi Silke, Well composed and very good cool ambiance floods from this image. We are just heading into the warmth of summer rather than winter. The use of the sun between the offset trees works well. TFS. Murray

hello Silke

Running out of smileys but I cannot resist to comment on this superb sunset view of the winter kind :)

Very impressive warmth of the sunset in the snow scenery and aptly chosen composition to place the sun between the trees.

Like a painting.
