The MV Lowlands Opal is about to sail. The Tug Avantage is next to me litterally as I am sitting in my car. Her bow is against the dock, engine ahead to clear the ice from the ship's bow ( like a swimmer swimming with his legs only arms extended on the pool edge ).

I find the spotlights and the lens reflections are adding action to the scene. Once again no flash, and a relatively fast speed used ,as the tug stern was still swinging gently.

Technically: Image uncropped; Mini Tripod used against the open window of my car. Played with levels and a hint of saturation. Voilà And Yes did remove a bit of noise with Neat Image ( see the Intro for the links for free downloads )

PS. Back tomorrow with comments, critiques.

It's a busy scene Robert with the tug assisting the larger ship.
Yes, the lights on the ship show us how large it is / how far away it is too.
Goods shot

Fascinating night image Robert.
Great lines lead you through the shot.
Fabulous work with the low light.
The mood is very mysterious.
Well done.

Hello Robert,
I love how you where able to capture the lights.. they look like stars! What we see of the ice/water it look very cold... Love your notes to help us understand what is really going on!

Salut Robert,

très belle image, très forte aussi. le cadrage est particulièrement dynamique. il y a du drame, du suspense... :-) Techniquement l'image est très bonne et en plus elle transporte une certaine émotion.

Une très bonne photo de nuit,
Merci.
