[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Good Day ,

The spring season is here( Technically ). The weather is still pretty cold and wet although. But it is time for me and Martine to leave all that behind us, as we are now on vacation. we are about to escape to Mexican Riviera for the next two weeks.

This morning, on the docks , there was a lot of activities, I just disembarked from the MV Supertramp. She is actually in port, discharging a load of bagged cocoa beans coming from Ivory Coast. In the background, the MV Saint-Paul is docked ahead of her while at the grain elevators the MV Hon. Paul J. Martin is discharging her load of grain and the MV All Star is loading hers.

Here I wanted to capture the busy morning ambiance. So I opted to use my zoom to gather all ships in one shot, and bring them closer together. I just waited a few minutes to get the loads being discharged by ship's cranes, and forklifts and stevedores working all together to complete the composition.

A bit more journalistic mood , than artistic (^_^), No photo alterations besides a slight crop for a more panoramic effect. Again you can appreciate is a dull grey day here. We had snow three times this week. Fortunately , it is not staying on the ground very long at this time of the year.

Alors, j'ai juste le temps de vous souhaiter de formidables vacances!!!
Avril semble vouloir rester gris cette année! Mais cela permet aussi aux couleurs de ressortir superbement contre la grisaille comme sur ta photo! Excellents point de vue et format qui donnent un aperçu fort pertinent de la vie sur les "docks". Bravo et encore une fois et profitez pleinement de ces vacances bien méritées.

Well, I'd say you did a very good job of capturing the ambience of a very busy morning Robert. So much to see here/so much going on .. but not in a bad way. Especially interesting because this is not something that most of us get the chance to see in our lifetime. Great shot on a grey day.

I like this kind of shot Robert.
Love the work and the business in the harbours...
This is a well captured and well ballanced image.
Good colors, sharpness and composition.
This image really shows, that nice weather isn't always a necessity for photography.

Hi Robert,

Good to hear from you and learning of your escape to Mexico.

The Schwartz's are leaving April 29 for almost four months in Europe. If you can escape once again, for a trip to France, you are welcome to stay in Peynier.

Intéressante cette photo ! Nous n'avons pas d'aussi gros cargos sur nos côtes, c'est impressionnant. On imagine bien le travail que cela doit représenter.
Un petit rayon de soleil aurait enjolivé le tout, mais nous ne sommes pas maîtres du temps;)

Impressive. I don't think their helmets are much protection for the heavy weight above them. ;o)

I like your composition and sharpness. There is a feel of morning all over this shot.
