Incredible clouds Anne! I like the levels here, it makes the clouds just look vicious! I do like the effect you added to it. It's more of an artistic shot, but those are my favorites! A straight horizon? UNHEARD OF! Well planned comp here, the house and shore are 2/3's of the shot!

Bonjour Annie,
Je reconnais bien cette maison de Percé . J'y étais moi aussi la veille soit le mercredi . Nous nous y sommes rendus durant une escale de 4 heures du CTMA à Chandler . L'effet causé par les nuages donne vraiment l'allure d'une peinture et ajoute un effet dramatique à l'image . Le rendu des couleurs y fait également pour beaucoup et j'y vois une composition impeccable et digne de mention .

indeed, indeed - those clouds resemble the dramatic Renaissance and Baroque skies of so many frescoes...
the shadow/light function is a very useful tool, if used correctly it can really rescue a photo =)

Hello Annie,

You have a lovely eye for composition which shows so well in this shot.
The bushes lead nicely into the shot where the eyes are quickly assaulted by the menacing, swirling clouds. (What a strong, imposing feature, they make!)
The receding houses, up the hilside, give a good sense of perspective, whilst the little extra light at the top makes you feel that you have completed the journey.

Bonjour Annie,

Bien que la scène elle-même aie de l'intérêt, je dois admettre que toute la force de ton image est dans les nuages. Ceux-ci sont remplis de nuances qui rappellent à tous d'entre nous qu'il faut sortir nos appareils quand le mauvais temps s'installe et non l'inverse. Bonne prise de vue, bon PP, bref du beau travail bien fait.

Et moi aussi j'ai reconnu la maison, je m'en souviens malgré que ma visite a Percé remonte a plusieurs années. C'est surtout son emplacement qui avait attiré mon attention par son regard sur le rocher.
J'aime beaucoup la composition ainsi que le coup d'oeil. Une légère inclinaison vers la droit parcontre..un demi degré au plus 1 degré dans le sens contraire d'une horloge, semble rectifier ce détail mineur. He trouve également que cette photo, manque d'un peu de luminosité....un léger ajustement des niveaux dans les tons clairs pourrait s'avèré bénifique. En bout de ligne....rien que de petits ajustement. Beau travail.

Marvelous shot.. the ambiance in the sky is in rage and full mood.. the color tones from grey to blue to orange is absolutely effective and gives this image an oil painting effect along with that house and the golden bronze colors on the water, reminds me of the work of Alfred Sisley... great depth and a great show…

dear Annie,
each portion looks very realistic, but whole image makes me feel sur or un realistic ambience so much.
the sun hidden by this illusionary cloud is actual hero, and the house is presented "yellow" from that invisible sun.
the romantic story about two is the main subject of this picture, in my feeling.

its always better to underexpose. shadows can always be recovered better than highlights.

yes you are right, this does look like an oil painting.I will have to look and see whether Photoshop 7 has a shadows and light function as some of the photos i took on the Solway yesterday were spoiled by being too dark.
This is another beauty. The drama of the sky especially appeals.

Bonjour, Annie!

I do like these houses in your last few posts, and this one, fronting the water, is especially nice. So much drama you show us in these skies. I like the low shooting angle, the contrasts, and the depth of this image. Looking at the water seems to suggest perhaps a tad bit too much sharpening, but other than that, the image is spot-on, as always.
