| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I must acknowledge Yan Hay, TL member from Ottawa from whom I came to know about the existence of these species in my city.
This bronze spider is called Maman, it is one of the six spiders cast by renowned Franco-American artist Louise Bourgeois as a tribute to her mother. It was created in 1999 and cast in 2003.
This massive bronze spider was intalled outside the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa in May, 2005 at a cost of $3.2 million, it was gallery's most expensive purchase ever.
The sculpture, which carries 26 white marble eggs in its underbelly, looms over the gallery's plaza, standing 9.25 metres tall and weighing 6,000 kilograms.

There's a bit of a tilt on the left side, and the orange line at the bottom is distracting; so we are in need for a tighter crop. However, the rest is quite fine. You have a good light for a night shot, and you waited for a photographer to lie on his back to add some humour to the shot. (That photographer would be me...) TFS!
wonderful subject and very beautiful light
Hello Sarju, very intersting and instructive note ;)
I love your point of view, different and very well done. It's nice to see your way of seeing things and we can compare :)
Now I am sure that we live in the same city. Will be looking forward to more of your photos.
Take care, Yan

This is a great subject (the metal spider) placed in a very awkward spot from a photo perspective. The lighting in front of the museum is tough - I do like this presentation and contrasting the spider against the lit background was a great idea.
Good shot.
nice composition, I love the work of Louise Bourgeois and it is well showed here. Great!
