Only a Rose..I give you

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This photo reminded me of an old song
"Only a rose I give you,
Only a song dying away,
Only a smile to keep in memory,
Until we meet another day! "
I think roses are the most beautiful of flowers, not that all the others aren't beautiful as well, but roses usually have a wonderful perfume to go along with the soft velvety petals.
I wish we could grow them here like we used to in the U.K. Unfortunately they don't stand up well to our Canadian winters, and we have tried a few times to keep them through the winter but lost them to the extreme cold and frost. Well this way, at least, I can keep some on my computer. |

Thanks for the rose. I can smell it from here. I like the overhead point of view you chose Joan as I can see all those twirls of petals right down to the heart of the flower. The colour is gorgeous. I can grow roses here. The secret is to bank up the plant at least one foot with new soil every november and don't uncover until april. Don't prune in the autumn, but wait until spring. Only cut of the tops of the very tall stems so the winter wind doesn't damage the plant. Give it another try and you'll have roses until mid november. Then leave some blooms to turn into hips for Xmas decorations. Sorry I talk so much. Bye.

I agree to the Note of the Artist, e "a rose is always a pretty rose" always and perfumed well. If well it will be photographed as it is the case, I give to mine parabens Joan.
Happinesses.

Hi Joan
I like the spiralling swirls within the rose, & the subtle colors. Good work!
Hi Joan,
Only a rose, but also a nice photo. The rose it's beautiful.
Regards,
António
hello joan.
It is a beautiful pink whose clearness is excellent. For the bottom this plastic makes a beautiful screen.

A beautiful composition. I like your POV...the overhead approach....it shows the many spirals inward to the center. And such a soft color. I believe a rose, by any other name, would still be Joan!........:O)
