“The Four Farley’s” is the name of this photograph. These are for distinguished Irish men who love to carry on a conversation. The two brothers on each end of the line are visiting here to celebrate their brother’s sixtieth birthday. They arrived a few days ago from Ireland and as you can see they love to talk!
I decided to take a photograph when they weren’t looking and I am happy with this result. Unfortunately they may not be happy.
They suggested the title and upon looking on the web I believe the Four Farley’s are a rock band.
I’m going to send them this picture by e-mail and I’m posting it on the web as well.
This photograph was cropped, Level adjusted, Sharpened in lab color U. S. M. 80, 1.5, 1, Gaussian blur the background by 45, and saved for the web. |

Excellent everyday picture. You shot them in their natural activities. They seem to be absorbed in their conversation quite a lot. IMO the glaussian blur could have been a little bit lower, lets say around 20. Then again that's the effect you wanted to achieve.

Jim, I love their expressions. The men are clear and the color and tones are great. There is a little halo around them where the background blurs. They should love this photo.
Each character ( very different ) seems to have his own point of interest . if I(m observing theirs respective looks
Beautiful effect in three dimensions.
The subjects arise well.
Good job.

Excellent portrait, Jim, taken at exactly the right time. Good DOF. But I think the halo around them is too large, it's a bit disturbing. How did you isolate the subjects, lasso or edge finder ?
Hi Jim, good scene you have composed here!
I in particular like the expression on the faces of all four. It is almost possible to hear them chit-chat.
I think the halos and the blurred background add to the atmosphere of the picture. The man on the left is definitely irish with his reddish hair!
