A magic night in a luxurious hotel in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta. Looking at this view you can imagine the calm night, very warm whether, no clouds, the sound of the sea on the other side, a glass of white wine in your hand sitting on a balcony. You can relax almost instantly....

Now a bit of tech talk:
- Was on my balcony with my tripod...thank god I decided to bring it :-)
- 25 sec. exposure needed for ISO 100 - I wanted all the quality I could get...
- I debated whether or not to leave the palm tree in front but I just feel the image would not be as powerful without it... It does render the vacation island look much better. We also had a vote in my familly and everyone agreed, So I hope you will also agree.
- Also debated whether to crop it more, but I do feel that the black parts of the photo also add to the shot. Plus, if you look carefully, you do see additional nice details such as the branches of the trees.
- No Photoshop work done, no color , no contrast, no sharpening adjustments...this is as it was... Just framed and sized for the web.

So this is it, Thanks for visiting, let me know what you think of this one.

Very nice long exposure shot. I love how the pool is lit so nicely -- aqua and blue my favorite colors. TFS.

Beautiful shot & great place for a vacation! Love the blue of the pool with the warm lighting.

Bonsoir

Magic indeed! the deep colours at the base and the impenetrable darkness above combine to make this a romantic fairytale world.

Bravo! Tu as bien fait d'apporter ton trepied.

Bonne journee, Yan :)

Claudine

It does indeed look very magical. Great sharpness and lovely composition.

Beautiful night capture, Marie-José. I'd have cloned away the faint lights in the left lower part, they only distract and add nothing to the shot. The swimming pool and its surroundings have been excellently captured, very moody and very crisp... well done; the palm tree in the front is a bit disturbing, but there's no way you could have avoided it... unless moving a couple of balconies to the right ;o)).
Anyway, I like it. TFS

MarieJose,
There is some magic in this shot, I like the exposure time and the f/6.3 aperture. The composition is very well done. I brought my tripod to Japan with me but I haven't used it much.
I do think 25 seconds was a lot but it fares well here. I wonder what ISO 400 would have given you with the use of Neat Image?
This is one cool image though.....got any more from this night?
Scott

very well captured a perfect example of good night photography, thanx, M, (*_*)
