[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
During our trip to Chichen Itza, we stopped at one of the many art stores for tourists.

Man was that place colorful. In the WS, you can see a better view of the store.

This was taken from one of the shelvings.

It represent the Kukúlcan pyramid or El Castillo with a representation of the Aztec calendar (Thanks to Maria José) sitting on top of the pyramid with the plumed serpent god Quetzalcoatl standing in front of the calendar.

PP: Isolated BG and applied Gaussian blur.

Hello to those of you that are just looking.
And HELLO and THANK YOU VERY MUCH to those of you that take the time to leave critiques/comments/workshops :-).

I greatly appreciate the blur in the background which creates an effect of relief in the picture.
Is a very good picture of inanimate object... :-)

Thx

I like how you did this Pierre! Like the fogged out BG and the sharp designs! Hope you are having LOTS of fun with your toes in the sand! We have quite a spectacular day here...70, sunny, blue skies!!

Amicalement,Carol

Very fine colours Pierre, but I am not too sure about the blur effect. I'd have preferred a sharp subject

Hi Pierre,
A classic piece of art from Mexico. Excellent display here- nice PP work. TFS JUlie

Hello Pierre, First I like your photo for its brightness and colors, but I would like to clarify some information you give: The calendar is not Mayan but Aztec, it is called the Sun Stone (Piedra del Sol), known also as the Aztec calendar, and the original is displayed in the National Museum of Anthropology in the Aztec room. Actually some of the Mexican TL memebers, have excellents photos of the Sun Stone. Sometimes artisans make this "cultural potpourri" objects, that they sell accompanied with a totally erroneus information.
I just thought it was important to let you know, besides I´m an archaeologist and felt the need to say.. Anyway, did you buy this kitch object?? in their own way they are superb!!

best regards

María José
