Good day,

In an attempt to show different shots, not only touristic views of our journey, here is one I captured exploring the rocks around the seawater pool. See the map for my location.

See the workshops for a wider view. It looks like some kind of sea-urchin. I am used to see the pitch black needle balls of all sizes. It was the first time I saw one like this. I found it by lifting a rock. Under it there was a semi-circular cavity . This ''thing'' was occupying the whole cavity. For one, it was impossible for that little creature to escape from that spot. It was trapped, as the rock was to heavy to be moved by this little creeature. There was just enough space under the rock to get water and most likely food....

Hi Robert,

Very alien looking sea urchin!!! Here in Malta we have lots of them but not like this. They have spines and can really hurt if you step on one of them! We also eat them!!!The orange strips you find inside and it is considered to be a delicassy!

About the photo: inccredible detail and sharpness, nice soft light.

My compliments

My all complimets.
Regards, Nebojsa.

I'm pleased that Karen has let us know what they are!! We have sea urchins here but they are covered in small prickles - like a hedgehog... Our Maori people break open the Kina (Maori) and suck out the inside black gunk - YUK!!

And your photo is very clear - it looks fresh and ready to eat!!

Cheers
Janice
