Difficult to go on vacation without trying to capture one of those memorable moments.

Well, since you don't see sunsets over the sea on the Mayan Riviera, we have to wake up early to capture the sunrise. I woke up at 04h30 on three occasions to capture the early morning light, in an attempt to capture the greenflash, and the sun appearing over the horizon. Unfortunately at each occasion it was quite windy mornings and cloudy skys. And of course trade winds were coming straight from the sea, with the load of salty mist. Well my first attempt probably gave me the most interesting sky with enough open space between clouds.

Technically: Here, I did not push the highlight/shadows as I wanted to keep only the silhouettes of the palm trees. Image cropped a bit for a larger square view. A tad adjustement in levels and luminosity. Reframed as usual.

PS. I have learned one morning was cloud free, but I was sleeping deeply that morning and missed it (^_^).

Dawn was in Yucatan?? Dawn Wykes? I don't see her...where?.......B-) Ohh behind the tree! Nice shot Robert, Heaven on Earth! I love this area...could go back right now and just be happy as a clam! Good job on this! Tell Dawn to come out!

Lovely sunrise Robert - well composed image and lovely colours..

I'm never up early enough to catch the dawn when I'm on holiday - although I do get a lot of sunsets - usually brandishing a cold beer in my non camera hand ;)

Fantastic scene Robert, great use of the site's size limits. The trees make perfect silhouettes, they stand out well against the vibrant sunrise. Definitely worth getting up early for - well captured.

So glad you woke up early and presented us this warm glow of the Pacific Yucatan sunrise. In a tropical setting one can always count on incorporating palm tree silhouettes which you effectively did here. The image appears lightly processed, just to my liking. This is well composed Robert. Hi Robert,
This is very much like a sunrise that I captured in Akumal. The sunraises were so spectacular there I would get up very early everyday to experience them. Very beautiful.
