This shot may be a little too subtle for some, but I liked the shadow of the cross, atop the older Spanish style Mission, (adjacent to the Guadaloupe Cathedral), falling across the vertical, yellow ochre bar, & forming a nice graphic pattern, on the facade of the cathedral. Taken in central Juarez, just across the border from El Paso, in Texas.

There is mesh netting on the tower, to keep the pigeons out.

From Lonely Planet Destinations Guide:

"Basic street smarts that might apply anywhere apply in Ciudad Juárez, but the city’s reputation is worse than its reality. Much of the crime is drug-related; tourists here for legitimate travel will find Juárez welcoming and friendly. The main drag along Av Juárez until it meets Av 16 de Septiembre is well lit and has a regular police presence so walking around is fine until late at night – just don’t stray down unlit side streets. East of Av Juárez is a seedy red-light district, which is best avoided. To the south and west many streets get eerily deserted very early in the evening; generally, however, it’s safe to walk around them for the first few hours after dark. Don’t walk over the Stanton St–Av Lerdo bridge at night.
Never accept ‘free’ offers (rides, drinks etc), as they’re never free and can occasionally be dangerous."

Hello Neighbour Chris,

I like what you have seen and shared here.
The building is detailed and interesting in its own right, but what a subtle image and message, of the cross angled across the wall.

In the past, this would have been referred to a miracle or a vision!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris,

perfect lighting for this picture. The colours are well saturated and the contrast between the colour of the building and the blue sky is beautiful. Composition and POV are also good.

Best regards,

Stasa

Olá Chris,
As said Bev, it's a "miracle or a vision".
Great image, fabulous lighting and more, unbelievable shadows.

Hi Chris,
Very clear and crisp exposition of this building, the church looks great. I like the high contrast, the perfectly blue sky and the details of the picture. Well done, TFS!
Greetings,
Kristof

Really nice shot Chris, great colors, especially in the sky.
I noticed the mesh netting - glad you explained it.
Juarez is in the news a lot lately .. huge drug wars, and gangland style killings .. big trouble down there!
Have a good night.

Hello Chris,

Excellent shot of this wonderful church with great perspective!
Very beautiful colors and perfect lighting, contrast and sharpness.
Congratulations and TFS
Sergio

With the building parts stickin out it curves the arms of the cross and makes it look more like a person beckoning which for some people is what the cross is all about. Good spot and capture
warm regards
David

Took me a moment to spot the shadow, but it works! Nice capture.

Great detail on the building and nice saturation in the sky.

Personally I would've cropped on the right/bottom to create a lead-in from the corner, at the same time eliminating that glimpse of a van/truck that, in my view, takes away some of the beautiful purity this shot would otherwise enjoy.
