small, dark and handsome just how i like my men.. ^_^

felt like doing something light and fun today to cheer myself up.. so here's a sweet little shot for you as i try to drag my tired body and mind over to the university this afternoon to do some editing for future posts on their superior computers..

this gorgeous dark and mysterious fellow in my bed is of course my kitty Bodmin.. those who don't know his less than fortunate story can read about him here and if you like you can take a closer look at his royal loveliness here

thankfully he's doing a lot better these days do to a heavy course of medication and all the love i can give.. and he just adores sleeping in bed with me.. he thinks he's my boyfriend! he even licks the inside of my ear all the time ihihih :D such a sweet boy.. this is one of his favorite positions right in the middle of my bed by the pillows (he's in the exact same place as i'm writing this.. although he's a bit annoyed that i'm typing instead of cuddling him!) so the other night when i came in the room and found my beautiful guy patiently waiting for me to join him in bed like a black furry Lothario and with the light casting these lovely shadows from my canopy on the wall.. i just thought this scene was too sweet and romantic not to photograph ^_^

Zandra dear i hope this image can make you smile and feel better :) i also hope that talking to you about my own unhappy situation hasn't contributed to your bad day and brought you down... Bodmin has asked me to send you a big hug from him too.. and he's a great hugger!

***

i wanted to keep the shot very soft and moody (like all good bedroom scenes! ihih) so i took it in very low light with reasonably high exposure and without a flash.. the only real light was my bedside lamp to the right of the bed which i tilted up to cast stronger shadows onto the wall

kept the original composition with any cropping, then simply sharpened, converted to grayscale (to create a deeper b&w tone than using the desaturation option) adjusted curves and levels to intensify the light and shadow contrast, converted back to RGB colour to apply the frame and signature and finally cloned out a tiny pin point reflection off one of his eyes which was terribly cute but i worried a little distracting..

hope you enjoy looking at the beautiful boy i'm lucky to share my bed with :)

Nice shot of your boyfriend,Ayda! I had a girlfriend like that too,her name was Crystal,Black with a white stomach, she died last month of cancer after being 12 yrs with me....Your photo touches me deeply,as you can imagine...Thank you!

Hi Ayda,
Well titled. Cat's are a big mystery, aren't they? You succeeded very well in making the mood you wanted. The lights is soft and has soft shadows... adds to this... uhhh... "sensual kitty" scene? Sorry...I couldn't think of better words. ;) But, you know what I mean. It's "loving."
Congrats on your success.
Richard

Ayda, I'm glad your "Man" is doing well. Your story reminds me of old man Simba, which they called cardiac cat, when he had pins put in his leg years ago. He's fine and thinks he's a kitten, but an excelent hunter.
This is an excelent composition in B.& W. a beautiful view which is appealing to the eye. Well done. Give Bodmin a rub under the chin for me. Most cats love to be stroked there.

Mike

Very moody!! Very cool!! And also very funny! It's good to know that you are feeling better (I am sure that Bodmin helped). They just love to sleep in our beds don't they, actually cats take over and it's them that let us share their bed!!! They rule ;-)
This looks great!! Well done Ayda.

i like your looking to life Ayda,
very beautiful and meaningful photo,
simple and touchful...
thank you for this beauty in beauty and,
bravo...

Hi Ayda nice photo especially your good looking model ;-) He’s better model than me, I prefer to stand behind the camera, it’s better for me and the humanity. About the photo I like the composition very restful and a little bit romantic.
I added a little workshop about this picture

Jos

Very well done and great note. This looks very good in black and white.

Bon choix d'endroit pour cette prise de vue avec ce sujet....beau contraste, et sympatique....bon choix monochrome et noir...

Hi Ayda,
Great use of the filtered light: makes it quite a romantic image.
Regards,
Paul

Hi Ayda...I really like the idea here...Magnificient...Composition is great with black and white...

Can

I like the soft lighting of the photo as well as the center mass for the subject. There isn't much I can say that the others haven't said already. I do find it odd that you would position your bed diagonally to the wall rather than flush against it. You would probably get more room if you had it flush against a wall...but then again, what do I know...I just take pictures. :)

Great and delicate work, where all is so well positioned.
Grain is at the perfect level for it and the deep dark presence is giving an ideas from volumes and "drapé";
Great composition

Bodmin, what a nice name.....
I can only see the silhouette of your kitty ut the way, she is laying in this royal bed and form a fine angle, I think, she's very comfortable there:-))
I like the softness, I like the light here.
Nice shot, nice cat, nice bed, dear Ayda !

Cats are great lovers.... and you did a lovely compo...
Beuatiful lighting, very "romantic"mood.
Cheers!

;o). Nice title, drew my attention at once. And I wasn't disappointed when I openen the photo. Great work, Ayda. And of course a great honour for you, getting a cat to lick your ears... TFS, nice touch to post it in B&W here.

Cute title and a wonderful sleeping companion. I love this composition and admire your love for this lucky cat. What would we do without our furry friends?...:O)

I love the black and white for this shot. I, too, have cats and love them! Great contrast Ayda!

Thanks for posting...
Alli
