This is one of the senior pictures I did recently for a girl I know. She is standing in front of a little white church in a nature preserve out in the country somewhere. I like this building because of the white paint and the interesting lines that you get if you stand at certain angles.
Senior pictures are very important in the United States. Most people spend hundreds of dollars for just a few photos! And that is for pictures in a studio with fake backgrounds and props. And they have to pay extra every time they want to change their clothes. Most kids will bring two or three outfits: dressy, casual, and sports clothes for any teams they are on. I do senior pictures for people I know, and I don't charge much more than what it costs me. Some people say I should charge more, but I think I would feel guilty if I took so much money for just a few hours of work. Besides, I enjoy getting in the car and driving to interesting locations for these photo shoots. It doesn't really seem like work! |

Excellent job Erin. You captured the moment and the emotions of the occasion perfectly. The photo looks very candid and relaxed, yet skillfully made. That's not easy at all to achieve.
I see many portrait photos here in TL, with crazy angles, intense PP work and all the relevant. Some of them are nice, but most just look like an attempt to recreate a ready-made professional pose, yet with amateur results.
Technically, I like the perspective you used, with the wall in this angle. But the greatest success of this shot is her candid expression; that's by far the most important aspect in these kinds of photos.
Well Done!
Best Regards,
Chris

I think this is very good portrait shot Erin! You made a great choice by using the wall of the Church as a backdrop. I like the contrast very much. Thanks for sharing!

Pierre
Great use of lines and good pose of the model, but I am sure that you might find a darker BG more pleasing for portraits.
This is fine work though.
Peace
Matt
