[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is my first post to TrekLens. Not knowing exactly what is acceptable or not I chose to add as my first entry the night skyline of Louisville, Kentucky, my hometown, taken in 2001. If this is accepted I will post a more recent update showing new buildings from a different viewpoint. This view is across the Ohio River from Clarksville, Indiana, which before 1780 was considered Canadian territory. This particular point on the Ohio River is about one mile upstream of the April, 1803 launching of the Lewis & Clark expedition, when William Clark, brother of George Rogers Clark, joined the entourage along with Meriwether Lewis, ergo the name, Clarksville. I also have photos of the exact location of the launching along with a duplicate copy of the William Clark Cabin where he lived at the time. That is, IF this first posting is accepted. If not, I'll learn from the rejection as to why it was not.

Camera: Olympus E-10; Fixed lens at 55mm; Tripod, yes.

hi Joe

Welcome to TL community. With your credentials and background in so many years of photography work, it will be easy for you to show what you have done, what you are doing and will be doing. This 1st post entry is most interesting opener for you to share what you have done in 2001 with night exposure of city skyline at the edge of water.

Perhaps I would be the 1st to comment here.

Good exposure of 1/1.25s but I would like to ask why f/2.2 for shallow depth? Any reasons why f/10 cannot be chosen?

In composition, this is nice. Although I would probably move myself a bit more to the edge of water and frame all the full reflection of the buildings

.avoiding the overlap of plants to the buildings, lamp post, and reflections by plants and the bench

I would probably set f/9 at least to get depth and sharpness.

But, very good work for your 1st post and looking forward to see more from you.

Greetings from Borneo.
tfs, bill

Hello Joe,and welcome to TrekLens...
And an attractive scene with the water looking like a glass mirror. The composition is good, and the sharpness is spot on. I would have liked to take a couple of steps closer to the seat, and therefore been able to see more of the reflection in the water.
But I say Well Done - and looking forward to seeing more of your work
Janice

Hi Joe, welcome along to Treklens, I hope you enjoy your stay.

Very nice night shot here, you have chosen a good time of night to take your shot with that evening blue glow in the sky..just before it gets too dark.

A couple of things that I would correct here.. that draws my eye away from the main part of the photo is your logo thing there on the left.. its far too big in my opinion.. just something really small would be better (if you have to have one at all), and I would clone away the stray branches falling down into the shot just above the light.. it looks a little distracting. I agree with the other critquer a larger f stop number would have given even more clarity.

I do like the reflections that you have obtained here..And good notes.. thank you.

Regards
Dawn
