Hello Sheri,
I hope you won't mind my honest opinion, but I think this portrait does not work.
Maybe the little girl's face is in focus and well-lit, but there are too much blurred and blown-out parts elwehere in your photo. They are not only too prominent and detract our attention, but they also don't present some aspects of the picture in a flattering way. Example: the blur on the food in the plate does not make it look very appetizing.
I would have done a severe crop, showing only the head of the girl in a square shaped photo.
Of course, this is only my opinion. Feel free to (dis)agree ;o).
