| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This location on the Ohio River near Clarksville, Indiana, directly beneath the George Rogers Clark Cabin in previous photo, is the exact spot from where the Lewis & Clark Expedition launched the three-year voyage to and from the Pacific coast opening up the west and spurning the Louisiana purchase under President Thomas Jefferson; April, 1803. It is now a public boat ramp. The inset photo are replicas of two of the boats used on that trip. I photoshopped them into the Ohio River with a person in the foreground to show the size of those little wooden boats. I say "little" because considering the enormous undertaking and the amount of supplies and persons carried on each boat, in my opinion, they were very small. Personal opinion only.
