[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo brings back fond memories of my years on this lake. I lived here for 7 years.

I'm STARTING to develop a photographer's mind set. I'm standing in the middle of the spillway going to the largest man-made waterfall in Indiana. As I was walking along the water, I just knew that I needed to be in the middle of the spillway to have a better POV. I found some rocks that weren't too submerged and journeyed out to the middle of the water. I was happy with the POV.

The shutter speed is probably too long, but here's why I did it. I wanted to maximize the color of the scene, and the water wasn't moving very fast, but I still wanted a smooth look.

It was breezy, so the leaves moving are blurred in the distance. I don't think I'm happy with this.

I also had a sepia filter on the lens.

Anyway, I tried, and will try again.

Thanks for all your help!

Hi Dennis,

Colors, reflections and POV are all very good here. Thanks for sharing a bit of your past, it's a very scenic place. Sometimes the super small apertures don't give the DOF you want (I know, I know, it defies logic). I'm still figuring out small inconsistencies like that myself. As you mentioned, on a breezy day long shutter speeds will blur the movement.

Have a great weekend buddy!

Werner

Hi Dennis
The long shutter speed gave that water and reflections a very smooth look which suits well your photograph, making it look like a painting . I like the results.
