[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While driving home from a wedding in Oklahoma we passed through the small town of Coffeyville, Kansas. It is home of the largest Amazon.com distribution center and was also the recipient of a major flood July 1, 2007 which had a dramatic effect on the town. There were abandoned and vandalized businesses, restaurants, homes and even a church throughout the town. The waterline of the flood could still be seen on the outsides of various buildings just short of eye level. It was a very depressing sight.

This gas station was located on the outskirts of town and appeared to have been abandoned long before the flood based on the gas prices. With the prices of gas reaching close to 3.50 per gallon in my area lately this sign caught my attention. Unfortunately I was quick to realize that the days of low gas prices are nothing more than a high school memory when I could fill-up my first car for under 15 dollars and it wasn't uncommon to pay less than a dollar per gallon. I remember driving around just for the fun of it but not any more, it just costs too much.

Shot in RAW/NEF and processed in Nikon's ViewNX. Auto color, auto contrast, adjusted levels and added black frame in Photoshop Elements 6. Comments, critiques and workshops always welcome; thanks for looking.
