Above it All For a Moment...

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Well, since my digital camera broke, I'm back to posting old stuff. Here, my friend Jeff (atarisphoto) hangs out on the bluff in Mounds Park and looks out at downtown St. Paul, Minnesota.
I've been under a lot of stress lately with college, my financial situation, and about a million other things I'm not going to take the time to list here. It can be difficult sometimes to find strength in one's self; and sometimes we have to look back and reflect on the fact that life is a gift, and it can be taken away from us at any moment.
Breathe. You're alive. The worst of it is already far behind you.
I thought this photo was fitting for this small scale epiphany, this time of reflection I seem to be having. We are the captains of our own ships, the masters of our own destiny, the kings of our own cities, and we are more free than we may even realize.
Hope y'all like.
In PS CS, I had to do a bit to make up for the poor quality scan... auto levels, color, and contrast, one pass sharpen edges, increased saturation slightly, clone stamped out some dust spots, cropped, and resized.

Outstanding photography and a very valid note.
On the image, I don't have much to say other than it's truely outstanding. The choice of clothing is just perfect for this. The viewer can just make out a few key words that leads one to think about the important thing in life.
In your note you used the word "epiphany" and perhaps that should be the title of the image. When the moment of epiphany arrives, it often seems that the world is doing it's own thing while the person experiencing the moment, is inside himself and suddenly struck the a greater understanding of the bigger picture.
It took a motorcycle accident a life-support machine for me to hit that moment of greater understanding of how precious life is. The stress in your life has strenghtened your perception and understanding, you are indeed fortunate.
This really is a great image, and thanks for sharing
Lance
Nice! A night city scene and a portrait. Great idea. It came out very good! Not overexposed and not underexposed. The black hooded man looks cool against the lively city. Great idea. It looks very nice! JP
excellent photo! I like the POV you choose : The man seeing at the city lights as I should have done. TFS
awesome photo... and even better epiphany.
