I took this shot from my loft window when I lived downtown. It was a great view to see storms moving in; I was taking shots of the colorful sky and experimenting with exposure times on my old Pentax K1000. I didn't have the money for a tripod then, so I stacked up a bunch of books to clear the window sill and used my cable release. As I took this shot, lightening flashed across the sky and I gasped in awe.

The view is over the downtown airport and the Broadway Bridge.

This is still one of my favorite pictures I've taken, I hope you enjoy it too :)

Thanks for looking!
Steph

nice capture Steph, like the color to the sky with the lightning bolt.

I'm jealous! I've never had the opportunity to capture thunder like this. Good job on this. Thunder is not easy to capture.

Very good capture - especialy consodering the way you had to achieve it.
Well scanned too :)

I wish that this could happen in California more often..

Nice capture! Shows the awe of Mother Nature. I commented on your squirrel pic earlier, but apparently, those aren't displayed on the site. Krug is a great place to take pics of all kinds, from the turtles and frogs to my kids' prom pics last April, which I posted earlier tonight. I found your pics in my dad's (DoubleT) favorites.

Well done with this one, I like the storm but also the colors from this place.

stephanie,
Nice capture here. I have added it to my severe weather theme. What was your exposure time?

I find lightening very hard to shoot, coz I rarely have a space clear enough to get cover the whole sky. So, I am always awed when somebody manages to capture it.

I find the picture itself is a bit blurred, despite you using the cable release to avoid camera shake. But, hey, you got the lightening! That's AWESOME!

Congrats!

very impressed..always wanted to do this..nicely done..
