Summer's Coming!
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Yes, it's right around the corner, I can tell by the tulip sprouts popping out of the ground everywhere!
Nothing says summer to me like July 4th, Independence Day in the USA. I have lots of great childhood memories of my dad and me blowing stuff up back in the day. It has always been my favorite holiday. I used to like blowing stuff up, now I like it for the noise and color and especially when it is a day off work. We never move the day off to Monday for Independence Day, we are off on whatever day in the week it is. It's best when it's on a Wednesday or Thursday, because lots of folks take the next days off and make a long weekend. Then my job is much more laid back for that week.
Here I am digressing into story telling again, sorry to bore you all with that.
This photo was taken from Kiener Plaza in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, last year on Independence Day. The building you see in the foreground is The Old Courthouse and directly behind it is a portion of The Gateway Arch at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. The fireworks are coming from a barge situated near the west bank of the Mississippi River.
Every year we have a big choice of celebrations to attend in St. Louis, lots of the neighborhoods and suburbs have their own fireworks display, one even has an air show that includes the Blue Angels.
I'm starting to think about where I'll be going this summer!
Have a great day today - thanks for looking! |
