Here are some cockroaches I visited at the Omaha zoo. I don't know why I took the shot. And I don't know why I'm posting it. Maybe I'm a bit punchy today...
I know that insects are the most successful life form on earth. I've heard the same about cockroaches. In Hawaii, they were over an inch long and could fly. Hmm, there is some advantage to cold climates...

When Christan looked at this, I went for my bug book to find out about the wings! Looks like the American Variety can fly, as you said. Being on this earth for over 300 Million years, they will be here long after we are gone. Great macro with very sharp detail (too sharp for my stomache, haha!)
