I came across this old photograph just recently, as I am in the process of cleaning up my hard drive. This was one of my first "real" experiments with night photography, in an old cemetery just north-east of the UND campus.

I was just walking around, taking in the night air, when I came across this little pond with a marble bench sitting on its bank. The reflection caught me, and I sat down.

Being in a cemetary in the middle of the night, I started thinking about mortality and lost myself for a while - and then I had an idea for a picture.

It was a 15 second exposure, the longest my old Powershot A80 could do, and during the shot, I took off my hat and jacket and moved to the other side of the bench - so there would be two "ghosts" sitting there next to each other.

There was a name on the bench, in memory of someone, but I photoshopped it out.

To make a long story short, I sent it through NeatImage and decided to share it with the TL community.

Enjoy :-)

Very interesting shot and note. The ethereal atmosphere fits very well in with the place where you took it and the time of the day

i remember you showing me this photo way back in the day when i started shooting...it introduced me to the ghost image which has a special place in my heart...i loved this photo then and i love it now...a great experiment and results even with the restrictions of the camera you were using...it reminds us all of how we are not always as limited by our equipment as we often think but instead only limited by our own imaginations...i also dig the soft look of this photo even though that is not usually my style or preference...thanks for sharing...i had forgotten about this one...peace***
