Well, why not something different this time?

My employment with my campus newspaper has given me more than a few unique challenges so far... one of them being sports photography. I am an avid hockey fan, and needless to say, I welcomed the opportunity to get 'up close and personal' with the action.

UND's hockey is Division I, and I look forward to being present when they take on my home team - the Minnesota Gophers.

Here, UND freshman Ryan Duncan waits for the puck to drop in a pre-season exhibition against Quinnipiac. ISO 400, f2.8, Nikon D2H with a Sigma 70-200.

I'm still learning the sports gig, but so far, this is my favorite shot. Enjoy!

Great shot, I'm impressed that you were able to shoot ISO 400. Must have great lighting at the rink. I'm a hockey player fan as well and have been shotting some adult hockey recently in a very poorly lighted rink, ISO 1600 for me. One of the guys on my adult team brother played for UND last season. Your shot has great whites, which is usually a problem with hockey and is very sharp. The face off's are kinda cheating as the action is not as fast yet. I would love to see more shots as you shoot more NCAA Division I hockey. Ths composition of this shot is also veryu good. Let's see more. Thanks for sharing.

i like the the tight crop and you have perfectly captured their expression. i prefer to see a much more saturated colors on this one.

Great shot! It don't get any better then this.
