| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A six inch snow is usually about the most we will see during a typical southern Ohio winter. In December, we received well over a foot with drifts several feet deep. It would likely have been deeper had it not turned to freezing rain. This shot taken four days after the storm shows how a thick crust formed that would allow my boots to sink only about four inches into the snowpack - about what I imagine snow shoes would be like.
Cropped, levels adjusted slightly, and minor vignetting repaired. |

pretty nice, pristine snow shot here! :) you did a good job of keeping the point of focus off to the side and i like how the prints draw the viewer through the length of the pic. you've managed the contrast and colour really well too, cos snow and photography can be tricky sometimes if they get overexposed.
cheers!

Very good contrast with nothing but snow and shadows here! Well done! Love your title and enjoyed your note....:O)
You have made a simple subject into a well composed picture. The mixture of shadow and light is really good. Great composition too. Well done.

Nice eye Greg. The snow is slightly blue but that is a difficult thing for the meter to do accurately. TFS.
