While on an outing with my mom, we came across two families of Canada Geese sharing a small man-made pond at a strip mall. The geese are pests to many, but the goslings are cute even if they are a nuisance when they grow up.
I'm sure I attracted stares as I knelt in the grass calling "goose-goose-goose-goose!" and tossing hands full of grass to attract the mob of curious babies. The parents kept a close eye on me and hissed occasionally, but that was the extent of their posturing and I was able to get many close-up shots of them. Hope to update my "critters" pages at my gallery this week sometime.
Cropped and added frame in Irfanview. Other than that, it's straight from the camera; I shot it on Minolta's vivid color mode. |

Hello Kimberley, what a beautiful creature, and you have captured him quite well, the detail of his hair is so adorable.
IMO a tighter crop might have given it more impact, otherwise it is a great photo!
Well done and have a good weekend!

This is a beautiful portrait about this young geese. I like this odd perspective, sometimes with special angles you can show most about what is good to see. I found a small wild duck nearly dying in small pond, I could make him survive, but just for a short while. he was 1-2 days old/young. His name was Robinson, I really felt sorrow, when he went, but I really enjoyed his frienship, he slept with me under my pijama... well, not rella slept with me, because I did not sleep, to anvoid a fatal movement. We have a small pond in our living room, he really loved to be in, and then one day, on the forth, he just fall a sleep on his island, and never wake up... You just remind me how good to be involved in the life of wilde animals. Thanks, Kimberley!
