Many of the traditions, rituals and spiritual beliefs of christianity are inherited from pagan religion and christmas in no exception to this. Looong time ago, when celts, germens and other tribes of europe was not christians but pagans, they used to celebrate the advent of spring which meant the most important time of the year for agricultural activities. It was the time to plant wheat and other stuff and people expected nature to be generous to them. To concretize this expectation, they used to hang the testicles of the strongest bulls to the trees as a symbol of the productivity of nature. After christianity this tradition continiued but now the most important time of the year was christmas not spring and they preffered less bloody objects to hang on the trees.
Conclusion: next time you touch one of those colorful shiny balls, be more gentle and don't forget to wash your hands afterwards:))

Hristiyanlıktaki yeni yıl kutlamaları da başka bir çok inanç, ayin ve gelenek gibi hristiyanlık öncesi dönemden bir çok izler taşır. Çoook uzun zaman önce germenler, keltler ve avrupanın o zamanki kabileleri henüz doğa ve güneşe tapınma esasllı dinlere mensupken her yıl baharın gelişini kutlarlardı. Bu tarih, nerdeyse tamamen doğaya bağımlı tarımla geçinen bu toplumlar için yılın en önemli zamanıydı. Ekin ekme vaktiydi ve toprağın kendilerine cömert davranmasını umuyorlardı. Bu umudu belirtmek üzere ve doğanın verimliliğinin bir simgesi olarak ağaçlara en güçlü boğaların hayaları asılırdı. Hristiyanlığın yayılmasından sonra da aynı gelenek devam atti. Yalnız artık yılın en önemli zamanı ilkyaz değil yılbaşıydı ve ağaçlara asmak için de daha kansız nesneler tercih edilmeye başlandı.
Sonuç olarak eğer bir gün o renkli, parlak yılbaşı süsü toplarla iştigal ederseniz, biraz daha nazik olun ve işiniz bittiğinde ellerinizi yıkamayı unutmayın:)) |
