These crocosmia buds beckoned. They're so firey bright, even when darkness has nearly fallen. I think the unopened buds look like hot little matchsticks. I rather liked this head-on view.
I shot this in dim light, just before sundown; the sun had already set and the yard was in shadows, so I used the flash. I had to experiment a bit with notching down the flash a bit since the first couple shots came out blown out. I'm pretty happy with this last one.
Edited in PSP...Cropped, USM, added frame. I think that's all I did to it. |

Superb capture of these Crocosmia buds opening Kimberley. I grow them / sorry, they grow here in my harden - just appeared and once that happens there here for good! In NZ they are considered weeds because they take over wherever they grow!
