The fountain is surrounded by buildings. I felt that the building detracted from the fountain so I used PhotoShop to remove them plus I put in the sun above the hand.
The War Memorial Fountain, also known as the "Fountain of Eternal Life," is Cleveland's major memorial to citizens who served in World War II.
The fountain was designed by sculptor Marshall Fredericks and dedicated May 30, 1964.
The centerpiece of the War Memorial Fountain is a 35-foot bronze figure representing man escaping from the flames of war and reaching skyward for eternal peace. The bronze sphere from which the figure rises represents superstitions and legends of mankind.
Bronze plates on the polished granite rim surrounding the War Memorial Fountain bear the names of 4,000 Northeast Ohioans who died in World War II and the Korean War. |
