Hello TL friends, hope everyone is having a good Friday. This is titled suburban waterfall because this 25 foot fall is located in Columbus Ohio. I never knew it was there until a few days ago. Anyway, after work I ventured out to see it took this shot, a nice sight on a hot summer day.

This is my first waterfall shot so here's the info. I set up the tripod on a small cliff. I kept the ISO at 100 and used a shutter speed of 2 seconds. I used an 18-55mm lens with a focal length of 26mm. I also used a Hoya Circular Polarizer since the sun was over head. In PP I increased the brightness slightly, cropped, framed and resized for TL.

Again this is my first attempt at shooting a waterfall so all advice, comments and critiques are most welcome. As always I hope you like this shot and thanks for viewing.

Regards,
Kevin

Excellent shot Kevin. The 2 sec exposure looks ideal for this shot.

Don't know much about waterfall shots but i Like this one.
Maybe a bit too bright on the upper right corner but hey, what do I know :-).
Still love it

Pierre

Hello Kevin
You did exactly what should be done in wanting that kind of effect. The composition is very good, the point of view perfect. I wouldn't have increased the sharpness though but it's a question of taste. I'd like the greens to be deeper.
Nicely done
Serge

Hi Kevin!

Gorgeous, suburban waterfall...I almost can hear the water.
Your picture has a great atmosphere.

Très jolie photo.

Hi Kevin,
I did have a good Friday yesterday ... today I had a good Saturday too (we're a day ahead of you ;)
... Not an easy shot to take with all that bright sunlight to contend with.
You've done pretty well here for a first try.
I generally make sure my white balance is set for sunny and aim my autofocus at the brightest part of the waterfall, usually about 2 thirds of the way up.
This will make your overall shot quite a bit darker, but you'll get a clearer image with less glare ... hopefully.
Just experiment with focussing on different areas until the exposure looks right through the viewfinder.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Kevin,
You've done what are needed for a waterfall shot. The result here is also nice. Have you tried a bit faster shutter, such as 1/5 or 1/10sec?

Regards,
Ramdan.

HI Kevin
The slow speed has made a bridal veil of this fall.
It looks fantastic against this rugged textured wall.
WEll done

Hi Kevin,

i've never captured a waterfall but i think a 2-second speed has resulted an unsharp image on the leaves in motion. i agree with Ramdan's suggestion.

Thanks for viewing my Well Done!

Hi Kevin,
I have taken some waterfall pics but they are not as good as this. Exposure is to be commended. There is good sharpness and colors appear true. Best regards, Danilo

Hi Kevin

Never tried taking a waterfall but I like the effect that you have achieved here.
Good composition and POV.
Well done.

Hi Kevin,
Beautiful capture of this suburban gem. What better place to be on a warm late spring afternoon. Lovely lush green surrounding the slow exposure falls with nice details to the mossey rock face. I tried a little workshop which I hope you like.
Regards, Tom

An older one I stumbled across Kevin. As Pierre mentioned a wee bit of OE at top right but the greens and the effect you achieved on the water won me over. Well done,
David

The water looks great and the colors are really beautiful. You picked a nice view to take this picture from.

Hi Kevin
Nicely done for your first waterfall. Camera setting worked well. I think the color seems a bit off and the WS did help bring it around.

Thanks for the recent visit.
