[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A few weeks ago, great clumps of ice hung from the corners of this dam. (Yes, even more and in different places than you see there now). This week, though, the snowbanks have receded, and so I thought to pay a fresh visit to the spot and look for hints of winter ending here, too. After all, we've seen the first hints of brown grass at the very edges of our driveways this week. Our sidewalks are dry and passable.

But, as it turns out, no signal of spring has yet come to Vulcan Park and its dam. This snow-frosted bush instead waves wintry fingers at the dam, not yet ready to say farewell to the cold days.

Ah, well, the days are getting longer. Rumor has it we'll top 40°F this week -- for the first time in months and for three straight days. Bring it on!

Hi Jim,
Wow you caught this swollen falls in wonderful light that reders lovely varying tones of dark silver blue colors. The tiny snow and frost encrusted island makes a lovely contrast to the richly colored water. Nice frame for this beautiful winter landscape.
Regards, Tom

Hi Jim,
I've missed some of your gems . . . excellent composition and sharpness, and very intriguing to boot!
Take care,
Karen

I am warm enough here in California! In Varkala it is always 80 or higher.

Jim, Wonderful image of the seasons as they are a changing. This shot gave pause to admire that seasonal change and admire the beauty of that change. GREAT photograph.
