This image revisits a farm scene that is all the more special because it represents a vanishing way of life in our community. The brothers who farm here could sell out for seven figures and business and commercial interests, already surrounding the site, would grab it in a heartbeat.

I am not opposed to progress, but I think there's charm and dignity in the work they do -- and beauty and value in keeping the land as it is.

This scene encompasses a different angle and scope from an earlier post at the same spot, highlighting these intact and still sturdy old silos for the theme.

All PP was done in The Gimp: a pass of light-and-shadows sharpening, the drop shadow plug-in using a color picked from the sky in the upper left, the mat plug in for the border, and then the title type, also from the sky color.

Hi Jim,
I like this rural scene! And I hope that this style of life will remain for a long time. Our grandchildren must have the choice to live in this way also a day!
Excelent composition with nice colors and fine textures. Very convincing image! Bravo! Annie

Hi Jim
Wonderfully unique looking old stone barn with a perfect pale blue sky to highlight all its lovely details. The green grass makes a beautiful contrast to the brown barn. Many small dairy farms have failed here in NY state and they are usually bought out by the biggest farm in the neigborhood. All the farm workers are from Mexcio.
Regards, Tom

Great simplicity and overall composition. I always love barns and country scenes..they are an old favorite!
The light and tones are good, but I may have added just a tad bit more saturation..I know it's hard to see what is over doing it, or not enough. Maybe adding some contrast would be good as well.

However, you did do a good job on the PP work you completed to show either an early morning or a late evening.

Nice shot Jim!
Well done.

HI Jim
This could be a view from my house, as I live in rural country where silos are plentiful.
Beautiful scene that only an early morning sun will give, rewarding us with rich green colors, and orange glow.
Great shot
Dot
Thanks for your comments on my shot.

Hello Jim,
You have such classic, peaceful shots in your gallery, and this is no exception. I love the texture of the stones in the building, the glow of the silo, and the vehicle parked next to them. You make it look like a perfect world.
All the best,
Karen
