Hello TL friends. The 4th of July is always a special day, not just because the USA celebrates its independence, but for me it's a time to spend with family. This was the first year my 2 youngest daughters experienced a fireworks display they will remember. The town lined the streets and everyone is celebrating with picnics and games. I hope everyone celebrating this holiday had a happy and safe 4th.

This was my first year shooting fireworks. For the shot I used an 18-55mm lens. I used a remote to release the shutter and of course a tripod. The shutter speed for this capture was 15 seconds. I did experiment with different exposure time settings ranging from 8 to 20 seconds. In PP I adjusted the levels slightly and increased the saturation for better colors. I cropped, framed and then resized. I hope you like this shot and as always thanks for viewing.

Regards,
Kevin

Dear Kevin Ross!
Amazing fireworks.
Original lightness.
Good idea, very nice take.
TFS!

Well done capturing these fireworks Kevin!
You caught some great color and bursts in the 15 sec exposure.
Good to see a little bit of the ground and stream coming up.
Well composed shot. Nice work!

Hi Kevin,
Yours was the first fourth of July firework image I saw this morning. I also shoot some firework photos last night in the rain. I'll download them after my morning TL tattle and after mowing my lawn. The long exposure effectively captures the vivid design of the firework. Best regards, Danilo

Hi Kevin
Been scouting the gallery for fireworks this morning because I'm going to our local winery this evening for their big display. Be my first attempt. So I was most interested in your settings. Hope I have something this good to post Sunday morning.

Dan

I bet it was a great holiday for you, and this is a nice shot of the spirit of this country.
Tracy

Perfect timing. Looks like a palm tree of light. Great composition and frame. Is good to know you took it, so thanks for the helpful note too.
Happy 4th of July for you, your wife and daughters.

Lorena

Hi Kevin,

The photo is beautiful. The fireworks are portrayed brilliantly and I love how the sparks just shines in the nightsky. I was just wondering if a higher ISO would give you more details in the photo besides the fireworks. I wouldn't know because I have never attempted a fireworks photo before but you have inspired me! Now all I need is a firework display.. hmm...

TFS.

Regards,
Alvin

p.s. BTW, Happy 4th of July to you and all your fellow citizens in the USA.

Hi Kevin,

shooting at fireworks is something i've never satisfied with my attempts so far and viewing beautiful shots is really inspirational.
