We've been having some real, hard hitting and drenching afternoon thunderstorms around here, more are predicted for tomorrow as well.
All the thunder, including last evening while I rushed to finish a barbequed salmon before the torrent, reminded me of this place and shot.
On a tour in Acadia National Park, I walked down the path and took this shot--wanted to be close to eye level with the rocks and water--turned around to walk back to the tour bus, and I got literally buried under a huge wall of cold Maine ocean water.
The actual "Thunder Hole" is in the lower right hand corner of the shot and the waves coming in from the left, hit the hole and the rocks behind it and had nowhere to go but explode up and out...and there I was, cloth jacket, jeans and a light shirt.
I was drenched and all of the people on the bus got a good laugh...me, I got a good chill, a chuckle, a memory, a photo, and a new waterproof jacket from Bar Harbor, Maine. :0)
Shot in jpeg, highlights and shadows adjusted a bit, some level set--maybe a slight remaining OE on the bigger wave on the left-no RAW magic here--sharpened, resized and titled/bordered for TL.
Thanks,
Wilt

Hi Wild,
What a dramatic coastal view! The shores form a stunning landscape, the water has really nice colour. Great capture, TFS!
Best wishes,
Kristof

GORGEOUS Wilt!! Amazing details, LOVE the action of the waves against the rocks! Really nice work all around, I'll bet you got wet!
B-)

HI Wilt,

Bar Harbor is on my list of places to visit one day. I have a friend that lives right outside of Portland, who knows everywhere to go in Maine! I'm looking forward to the day I can go for vacation.

Your photo is gorgeous. I can almost smell that salt water as I wipe off the spray from the ocean. (I enjoyed your notes :D) The rocks at the bottom make a nice bottom frame for the scene.

thanks for sharing, Lisa

Just enough PP work for mine Wilt and on my LCD no visible OE. Well composed, good colour and light and a very threatening looking day,
David

Hey, Wilt,
fabulous shot! Maine is one of my favorite places in the world (in the summertime...lol) and this is a wonderful shot of it. I love that stormy sky and the crashing waves. I remember days like that. Looks like a wonderful seascape painting. Great job!! Many thanks and kindest regards,
Shelly

Hopelessly romantic, this dramatic shot jumped right out at me! It evokes memories of similar views in my past. Could just stand there and watch the waves roll in and don't mind the wetness...
Cheers
