The Nubble Light
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
In 1602 explorer Bartholomew Gosnoid and the Indians of the area named Cape Neddick "Savage Rock" it took Congress untill 1874 to grant $15,000 for the Nubble Light House to be built. The light is tower is cast-iron lined with brick, and was first lit on July 1st, 1879. The Nubble Light was manually operated for 108 years, and went automatic in 1987. When Nasa sent Voyager II into space with artifacts designed to teach extraterrestrial civilizations about our planet, one of the images carried was a picture of Nubble.
I posted a workshop of the same shot but at a different perspective.
Over the past week I took a roadtrip of Maine, Conn. and Mass and took many interesting shots, I hope everyone enjoys them. |

I remember already seeing this lighthouse in a photo by Brent (padre). It is interesting to compare these two images. Brent got a lot closer and showed us more detail. Your shot is taken on a bright day wich adds a lot to the mood, and you used a good composition. I just think it is a pity that you posted such a small image, Dennis.
A very good photo with some lovely splashes of colour, but picture is a bit small.

Hi Dennis, it looks like you stood very close to the place I did when I shot this. I wasn't actually closer (I don't think) if anything, I was down lower in the rocks. I was there on a stormy day and you on a bright day. It is a beautiful place and you captured it well.
Beautiful composition, very classic!
Best regards
Guy

Bonjour Dennis
Interesting composition: The point of interest in located right on the tiers line and the foreground is important for perspective.
Interesting note.
Wonderful!
