this is a mask that my girlfriend brought to me from costa rica. i used it to practice some lighting and get used to new camera i'm useing. let me know what you think.

Hmmm, I really love the lighting and shadows, the way they bring out the form, contours, and detail of the mask is stunning. I do also like the textured surface you decided to lay the mask on, which makes it pop out. I am not so sure about the angle or POV chosen, since in this shot it is incredibly hard to identify the object, even after being told it's a mask. The problem is that people tend to be attracted to images in which subjects or objects are either recognizeable or totally not recognizeable because they look to be intentionally obscured by use of shadow, covering, etc. Because the mask is so stylized and somewhat abstract, try using a POV where we can, after only a short moment, distinguish the various features and elements. Good cropping at the bottom, but just be careful to not let the top of the mask touch the top edge of the photo, as that breaks the balance and continuity. Excellent use of black and white though and really stunning shadows and contrasts. Great tonalities. TFS!
