Portland Head Light
1000 Shore Rd, Cape Elizabeth, ME 04107
Portland Headlight and Fort Williams is such a beautiful spots to spend a sunny morning. Right on the rocky east coast of Maine, the lighthouse at Portland Headlight is picturesque.
Maine's first lighthouse and its most famous, located near the entrance to Portland Harbor. Commissioned by George Washington, it was built in 1791. Accessible by car, it is visited by thousands of people each year. Over 200 Casco Bay Islands can be seen from the hurricane deck. Visitors can see the grounds and museum only. The light is operational. Today, Portland Head Light stands 80 feet above ground and 101 feet above water, its white conical tower being connected with a dwelling. The 200,000 candlepower, DCB 224 airport style aerobeacon is visible from 16 miles away. The grounds, and keeper's house are owned by the town of Cape Elizabeth, while the beacon, tower and fog signal are owned and maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard as a current aid to navigation. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. |

A beautiful scene with nice cloud patterns in the sky. I wish the photo was sharper.

Hi Denny,
Not up to your usual standard with the framing Denny, I think imo I would have the light casting the shadow from the other direction so it appeared along the top and right of the image as it seems a bit lost in the dark rocky area of the image and the title would be on the light background, just an observation. Thi image itself is good. Nce PoV and colours, could be a little sharper but is nicely composed.
Cheers
Bri
