Love the vibrant reds of the tulips especially were they fall against the green background.
Had you considered shooting the picture in the portrait direction instead of landscape so the bottom flowers weren't chopped off?

Seems to me that the DOF is working fine. The flowers (your main focus) however is a bit shaky. Try a tripod and see if you get better results.
