I wasn't real sure about this pic at all, this was taken at 46th and Broadway in New York City. I noticed a couple waiting for the lights to change. I loved the street reflections. I did it in color, but the color was distracting.

So I converted from RAW without saturation, didn't like it...so I went back and started over. Converted from RAW with color. I did layers, clarification, a vignette around the picture and then a bloom. THEN split into RBG layers and chose the BLUE layer as my best tonal value.

So anyways, that is what this site is about...throw it out there and see what others say about it! This shot is cropped down to about 1/4 of what it was...the rest of the shot, right and top was buildings!
Thanks and let me know what you think!
Linda

Hi Linda !
a very creative approach here. I like the POV, composition and the b&w feel.
It even seems to have a painterly feel to it too !

Pretty nice going :-)
Well done.
Best regards, Daniel

Seems a scene extract from a movie. Great atmosphere and nice light in B/W.
Jean

Hi Linda,
Very good B&W ,good light reflex, congratulation.
Best regards,
Ralf

This shot has a classic movie feel to it Linda,
I like your POV and composition,
but most of all I love the shimmer of the wet streets.
Reminds me of home :)
Well done.

Hiya Linda

I recognise this place! no I have never been here but it reminds me of a certain birthday card!

Absolutely fab capture and look at the two completely different ways you have treated a similar view with your PP work. Absolutely outstanding and I would be hard pushed to say if I prefer this one or Silke's card

TFS regards Helen

Great shot Linda, nice angle, so much going on, I know it's digital, but it has a B&W film about it.

Thanks
Gil

First of all, I've never been to New York, so I find it interesting, and secondly I love the rain! The b&w creates a very nice mood. TFS

Good mood and feel to it Linda, I especially like the little walk sign. B&W conversion is pretty good, I spent a long time on mine tonight and not to happy with it, Ill try your way next time.
Nico

Excellent view! No doubts, perfect for a B&W ...
A good sensation of movement, life in big city, light reflections,... Great work! TFS, Marta

You;ve got wonderful refelctions here with well conveyed asphalt texture. I like the atmosphere oof a rainy day you captured and it reminds of the New York of 30s (though I've seen it on TV only in gangster movies). The blur works well too.

Wonderful shot. We see often the skyline or other famous buildings. This shows another athmosphere of NYC. I love the light and shadow play here. Fabulous composition.
Best wishes,
Achim

Hey Linda
I like this effect.. IMHO it looks "timeless" well done with the pp work... the light on the wet street looks wonderful...
Not even cold March rain can stop those New Yorkers :)

Tomorrow is going to be in the 80's taking the kids to the BEACH!

Hi Linda,

A shot that takes us to the classic ages..
Creative in B/W conversion.
All the best.

Hi Calamity,
A black & white impreesion with a wonderful mood. That's how I observe this image. Excellent contrast the reflections on the wet street is gorgeous. Perfect posting my dear cowgirl :-)
Hans

Hi Linda,

I certainly like the effect you have achieved. I also like the reflections of rainy days. If they did a remake of the movie "Singing in the Rain", in black and white, this shot would surely be included!

tfs, Lisa

hi linda, well you certainly made some changes, changes i would have no clue how to do! your right about the posting-throw it out there and see what people think, 2 points for that!

Hi Linda,
The blue tone works really well for the wet scene. Good overhead angle, and just enough movement of some of the people and their brollies...
Cheers
David

Hi Linda,

I love the crop - seems perfectly good to me, I only would not have used the vignette because the mood is already there, no need to enhance that.
B&W is the only way to go here in my opinion and now you have created a dark, wet and timeless feel - yes I like.

Hello Lin;
I love to see these scenes,it is just amazing how you catched the sort of reflection in middle of the street and your shot is full of detail, good and sharp.
On my screen the focus seems to be right in the center..
Again, good job
John

Hello Linda,

This looks just like a screen set for 'Singing in the Rain'!

I think you were absolutely correct to post this in B&W. Colour would have distracted from the reflections. This shot, for me, is all about rain and how it affects busy shoppers! So, rain, reflections, umbrellas ... perfect!

kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Linda

I love this POV and composition. The light reflecting off the wet pavement is wonderful. It looks like a still from a black and white film. It has bags of atmosphere
