Hi Linda,
Great socio-photo from New York City. I think this shot expresses the mood there in those hard times after 9/11. The grained effect fits to its mood very well, it suggest uncertainity that those poor people on the streets surely have. Interesting note... Nice job, TFS!
PS: Thanks for yesterday's sugestion, I immediately tried it and posted on TL. :)
Greetings,
Kristof

This shot is so very New York Linda,
even without the "End of the World" written on the wall :)
Great work capturing the mood and essence of this scene.
The grain added is a nice effect too.
Nicely done.

Hi Linda
Great street shot full of mood, and very appropriate to the days of serious world-wide crisis that we live.
Elegant sepia work and great effect with the grain.

Hi Linda,
Great symbiosis between your photo and your note! We don't choose to born, but after we are in life, the life is a perpetual choice that only a good self-knowledge can help us to make! Rare are the people who arrive at this lucidity. So, for everal, life is a hard adventure!
Excellent treatment with the addition of grain. This cans suggest all constraints which we must overcome to respect our choices! Very meaningful image!
Bravo! Annie

Good message, great grainy mood to the shot, a strong sense of anonymity in both subject and passers-by.
I like to think I have a big bouncy happy slobbering white dog, and the black one only comes out when there's a real problem to be faced. (And Internet woes shouldn't count as real problems, eh?)

Very deep thoughts Linda - well said.
The end of the world is nigh!!
Sad photo, or is he waiting for a taxi to take him home? Me being sceptical...
A friend, when in an far eastern country, saw this poor man with a wooden seat and shoe cleaning gear walk down the street. They felt sorry for him. He stopped at a Mercedes car, opened the boot, through his gear in it, and drove away!!
Good shot and your added pp work gives it a real good dramatic look

You have taken a snapshot and through your note and PP work turned it into far more. Noise is effective in the dark mood of New Yorks under belly.

HI Linda,
What a strong message and photo. Interesting composition. Looks like the homeless have given up and are just waiting for the "end of the world" to happen. Why bother doing anything? It's not that people don't care that they pass by, it's that one can't save them all. I learned to pass by them while in Paris. Heartbreaking. If you give to just one child, at least 20 will come out of the woodwork and follow you until you say no.
Interesting mood with the grain. To me, it make s it look like an old photo...this could be any decade. Yes, thought provoking. Lisa
hi linda, i like the grain, good candid idea here, i think theres a few things at play,
1) when you start drugs or booze in the beginning you have a choice to keep going on the sunday night or stop, those who keep going very soon become addicted and will probably have a life long torture with it. but they had a freakin choice in the start! once addicted your screwed!
2) mental illness is at play and thats a whole new kettle of fish! they could be screwed before they even start!
3) i always ask is this that persons fault or are they mentally ill, i think most of these people made bad choices!
i dont know i am glad i have a good job, family and friends who would intervene if they ever saw turn to booze and drugs,
good topic for discussion i think one needs to respect themselves first,
thanks,
scott

Hi Linda
I've worked out that Houston is 16 hours behind east coast Australia. So if I log off at midnight, it's 8am there. I like the grain here, which adds to the gritty, urban texture. Many foreigners are shocked to find the polarized society, within the US. The Hollywood soaps rarely portray life as it is, for the down at heel. Thankyou for the reality check. Good framing with the wall & passerby. Tfs!
