This is for Thorsten who posted a GRAND pic of Niagara Falls in HDR yesterday, so he got me motivated to scrape up some RAW photos of when Silke and I were there last year and this is the result. I still do not understand tone mapping, so you geniuses out there can help me with it.

I was so impressed with his shot of the Falls and I really love processing so I had to give it a whirl! I also added vignetting and a bloom, right at the edge of the falls!
I love the little footprints leading to the water, hope the little fella made it back.
The only thing I don't like much about HDR is that with all the processing your EXIF data is lost...or maybe I can pull it from the RAW File....lemme see... well, it won't let me highlight and save! Anyone know why? That is annoying! But I filled in the shutter speeds and FStop. Focal Length was 24mm.

Thanks and have a great day!

Linda

Hi Linda,
Wonderfully imaginative treatment to the famous falls.
Love the winter steam created by the warmer falls against the frigid winter air.
The golden sky makes for a dream like image.
Regards, Tom

Very impressive pp work! I love the colors and the pov. I'm glad you included the original. A very interesting post! TFS and have a happy day!

:-) ...i do not understand the tonemapping either.*g* and i do not know why mine look like out of a comicbook and yours so
natural and normal..kind of..the colors are stronger as usual i guess..maybe you can upload the "normal" photo to the WSsection
for comparison..anyway, this is fantastic, i really like the dynamic of the water, i can almost hear it..or maybe i still
have it in my ears from my recent visit..or maybe itīs just tinnitus.*gg* thanks a lot & have a great day, thor.

ps. i recently found a cool programm that makes the water move, i tried that with mine...
itīs called "lifephotomaker".

hi linda. wow! amazing hdr image here, i saw "thorsten's" too and that also is amazing, the results of both are very similar, excellent work on this linda, happy day!

Hi Linda
HDR is habit forming and a lot of fun. Amazing difference between the two images. Really dramatic. What software are you using?

Great effect and processing Linda,
It has a real Sci-Fi look to it.
Amazing how it brought out so much mood and drama.
Nice work.

Hi Undesireable LOL,
Nice shot Linda nad the HDR treatment is done well, the colour of the water going over the edge and the colour of the sky is great, nice leadin across the falls.
Well done
Regards Andy

It is the colours that really make this image so dramatic and moody-----the sky is so threatening---great composition---love it---Lynne

Hello Linda, there is plenty going on here.
The colours are very interesting!I especially like the emerald green in the falling water.
Lots of different textures too.
The spray looks like steam.
Can't wait to see what you come up with tomorrow[?]
Tfs, regards Jean.

wooo hoooooooooo!

very powerful and exciting.

Hi LInda
Niagara will never look the same to me after seeing this rendition. Its looks really dramatic and terribly cold.
Good job.
Dot

Don't know if you are using photoshop, but after your image has opened in raw, you then click for it to open in PS right? Duplicate twice, yes I said twice, the photograph, and close the original. You can then alter one copy of your photo to hdr and have the spare one for the exiff.

I know that with hdr you will have more than one photo but you only need one exiff, just a matter of - or +

Hi Linda,

I don't have ANY IDEA how to do this. I must say that the result is stunning! Interesting colors, lights, etc.... The mood is quite "dreamy"!

Nothing like seeing the falls in person is there? It's something one never forgets! (kind of like NY City)

thanks for sharing, Lisa

I like the POV and colours. The contrast really stands out here. It's a wonderful shot.
Best wishes,
Achim

You posted this while I was away Linda and I just had to come back and comment on it. Your really getting the hang of this and your results are great. (I am not allowed to try it yet, more advanced than I am ready for) superb colours and your getting to be trade mark vignette, is the perfect addition.
Warmest Regards
Wanda

Hi Linda,
Superb and spectacular scene, the intense green, foamy waterfalls, the silhouettes of the city under the golden sky...
TFS,
Andreea

WOW nice PP
looks like the future, toxic water falls
Have you tryed HDR from many shots at differnt exposures or just from one raw image?

Holy Cow Linda!
If I had seen this photo when I was still living near there I would of been scared that there was a war going on near me! Yikes look at that sky! Looks like its on fire, I see your having a great time with your new corel program...:)
Nice work!
See ya around FB!

I love the colors and the pov. Very interesting shot. Well done.

Hmmm, a most interesting result here, Linda! The HDR worked really well here especially on colorizing the water and the sky. I can't point out one negative thing about this posting, therefore I end this brief comment with: "My compliments!"
This is a "must add" for me! ;)
Tfs!
I wish you a peaceful evening,
Diana

Great Shot Linda! I'm into water shots and your PP here is very appealing. Although building is my day job, I'd love to remove those in the background. But they are a good contrast to Nature.
