[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A flamingo's pink or reddish feather color comes from its diet, which is high in alpha and beta-carotene. Feather color varies with species, ranging from pale pink to crimson or vermilion. Caribbean flamingos have the brightest coloration: crimson or vermilion. The Chilean flamingo is pale pink. They have 19 neck vertibrae which allows them maximum movement and flexibility.Their taste and smell is very poor. Flamingos usually lay just one egg. A group of flamingos is called a "pat".

Taken at the Providence Zoo--- again changed background by using a filler and then paint brushes and smudge tool around edges.

Never tasted a flamingo before so I can't say if it's poor :-).
Nice colorful shot.
I find that using the freehand selection tool with the smart edge option make for a better cut on the edges when removing the BG. That is if your software has that option. I use PaintShop Pro.
TFS.

Hi Julie,
Excellent details and colours that you've captured with this photo. The lighting at the zoo seems to be perfect and you've used it to your advantage, well done with the exposure. Interesting decision to white-out the background...was there something distracting or is it for emphasis...just curious.

Well done. Cheers, Todd

Salut juliet
Joli flamand rose, mais pourquoi ne pas les laisser dans leur environement.
Bravo

Wonderful colors and PP work...
I downloaded the trial of PS 8 .. It has an amazing magnetic lasso tool.. but the trial is over and Tom will not go for the cost!

Hello Julie,
good question, which you answered us so well in your note. Very nice shot of this flamingo, the details and sharpness are very nice. The color comes out very well on the white BG, mind you I would have chhoosen a darker one, but that is a matter of taste. Excellent job on changing the BG.
TFS..Sky

u offer us again a lovely animal

Interesting picture - almost has a surreal quality about it with the background removed. Great colours and details
Thanks for sharing

Excellent work Julie. Good PP and a fine image to start with. It is interesting the way the diet changes the colours so dramatically. Well done and TFS,
David
