Well, this is a very typical type of self portrait and I almost didn't post it because TL doesn't really need another shadow self portrait but since my twist on this theme is the landscape of Vermont I thought I would post it anyway.

I went hiking with some friends of mine and we started late in the day. By the time we got to the top the sun was getting low on the horizon which created some nice long shadows.

You may recognize this view from a photo I posted of my sister *** HERE ***.

All I did to this one was adjusted highlights and framed it.

Suggestions welcome!
JP

Hi JP

I like the long shadows & lighting from behind. A superb lookout, over the pristine landscape. Good work!

thats a cool portrait with a beautiful landscape JP :)
i like the idea :)

hey jean!
how far away is vermont from NYC? Must be a nice change, from the urban jungle to the wild and amazing hills of the appalachians.

I still gotta visit NYC, but when I do, I'll make sure to make a trek to Vermont, I hear so many good things about it, especially the quality of the ski resorts there, so I'll be sure to check it out.

You ski Jean??
as for the technical aspects of this shot, well great as usual. Not only because of the Nikon, but because you've got your own style within every photo.
cheers

Hey JP

Vermont looks like a fantastic area of the world. I only grew up a few hours away on the Canadian side in New Brunswick. Looks like it shares the same landscapes.

great stuff

Great POV and the loooooong shadow portrait goes great upon the rocks and wonderful environment. Nice exposure and well seen.
I've been to Vermont once many many years ago and it was absolutely beautiful...!
Nice shot JP!

Hi JP,
A beautiful landscape but you add the drama! Or rather... your shadow! Inventive to make use of your "companion" in this way
Regards,
Pablo -

Hi JP!
great shot! I envy you for the opportunity to go hiking:( Maybe it's not the first of the shadow self-portraits as you say, but you composed it very good. And I just love those bluish hills towards the horizon in the background.
great work!
regards,
M:)

wow! fantastic scenery JP. Indeed the shadow is typical but it's always interesting.

But, hey, this shadow-self-portrait is the only one taken in Stowe -- I checked -- so it's not like this category is overrun. ;-)
Probably wouldda been even nicer to see the nearest bush without your shadow right on it, but that's about the only thing I'd even think about changing.
Wonder if that little white dot is my cousin's house? LOL

I must go to Vermont one day. The view is stunning. As for the self portrait being a shadow, I did that too on the beach, ha. ha. I don't think I'll post mine though because it's too boring without any view like yours. Lovely scene, good compositon and colours. Well done JP.
